Let's face it - when it comes to holidays, Dads can get the short end of the stick. This year, why not go the extra mile and let the special Dad in your life know how much you love and appreciate him?

On Sunday, June 17th, from 6-10 pm at the Foundry Park Inn, we're turning the Melting Point into our very own man cave with three things Dads are guaranteed to love - great food, great music, and great spirits! He’ll kick back to live jazz while choosing an entrée and two sides from our exclusive Father's Day menu featuring hearty portions of culinary classics like filet mignon, blackened mahi-mahi, ribeye steak and more!

And for the fathers with a taste for the finer things, we will also offer a liquor tasting station featuring your choice of three of our finest whiskey, bourbon and scotch selections for $15 served in small 1 oz. pours as well as a cigar bar with items curated by Wiley Ashworth of Five Points Bottleshop available for purchase.

Music
Christina LaFontaine, featured vocalist for the Athens A-Train Band, brings energy and an easy stage presence to the group. She especially enjoys singing ballads and latin arrangements of jazz standards. Beginning her jazz standard appreciation at an incredibly young age, she truly feels and appreciates the genre and her 10+ years of vocal training have added a polish to her natural talent. In addition to her extensive vocal experience, Christina's 10+ years as a professional wedding planner with Consultants Unlimited ensures that your event timeline will be in good hands.

Mike Jones plays tenor saxophone for the Athens A-Train Band. Mike is a talented jazz soloist who is able to interpret songs of various musical styles in a sophisticated yet intensely soulful manner. He plays in the style of the great jazz saxophonists such as Ben Webster and Stan Getz. His thorough understanding of music and creative tune writing provides the band with original compositions and new ideas song arrangements. For example, an energetic tango that Mike wrote and that A-Train performs is packed with intensity and fills the dance floor.

David Gastley plays guitar for the Athens A-Train Band. He has been playing music in the Athens area for over 20 years. Dave's guitar stylings reflect the influence of Joe Pass, the renowned guitar recording artist who worked with all the jazz greats. He transitions flawlessly from jazz, swing, ballads and latin to blues. As several of Dave's fans have remarked, “... he can make the guitar sing".

Darrin Cook, who plays upright bass for the Athens A-Train Band, is a serious musician who has excelled in playing bass, both upright and electric, in a considerable number of bands in the Athens area. He has served as the principal double bassist for the Athens Symphony. One of his skills that keep him in demand as a side man is his uncanny ability to " make a song work". He has the skill to play music of various styles always in an outstanding manner. Darrin’s solid technique and artistic prowess add greatly to Athens A-Train Band's unique sound.

Jamie DeRevere plays drums for the Athens A-Train Band. Jamie has also played in a number of bands in the Athens area, quite often with Darrin Cook. They have known each all their lives growing up locally as cousins. Jamie and Darrin form the rhythm section of the band and their play together is impeccable. Jamie is a master of all the jazz and swing beats from intricate latin rhythms to bebop. He is able to play a ballad tastefully and to really let loose with an up-tempo jazz tune.

Ron McClendon, keyboard player for the Athens A-Train Band, has played with several bands in the Athens area for over 20 years. He enjoys playing music of various styles, particularly latin, jazz, swing, and blues. His expertise is in voicing chords on the keyboard to complement the talented vocal and instrumental soloists of the band. With an extensive knowledge of so many styles, Ron has an easy style on the keys and on stage. more >>>
