"I Am Divine"
"I Am Divine" is the story of Divine, aka Harris Glenn Milstead, from his humble beginnings as an overweight, teased Baltimore youth to internationally recognized drag superstar through his collaboration with filmmaker John Waters. Spitting in the face of the status quos of body image, gender identity, sexuality, and preconceived notions of beauty, Divine was the ultimate outsider turned underground royalty. With a completely committed in-your-face style, he blurred the line between performer and personality, and revolutionized pop culture. "I Am Divine" is a definitive biographical portrait that charts the legendary icon’s rise to infamy and emotional complexities.
I AM DIVINE premiered at the SXSW Film Festival and has been fully endorsed by filmmaker John Waters who appears in the film. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. And don't forget about the awesome Bottletree menu and bar! Check out the trailer: http://vimeo.com/58639936 |

! ! ! (chk chk chk) / Shockwave Riderz
!!! (generally pronounced "chk chk chk") is a dance-punk band that formed in Sacramento, California, in 1996. The band's name was inspired by the subtitles of the movie The Gods Must Be Crazy, in which the clicking sounds of the Bushmens' Khoisan language were represented as "!". However, as the bandmembers themselves say, !!! is pronounced by repeating thrice any monosyllabic sound. Chk Chk Chk is the most common pronunciation, but they could just as easily be called Pow Pow Pow, Bam Bam Bam, Uh Uh Uh, etc.

Arum Rae / Henry Dunkle
Arum Rae, formally by the name White Dress, is a modern day siren. Her rock and blues influenced melodies lure the audience into a trance. As she plays, the room falls silent except for her sultry voice and electric guitar. While comparisons to PJ Harvey and Patti Smith may abound, Arum Rae accomplishes a wider range of sound and feel with a minimal cast of musicians, a drummer and bassist, but often playing alone. Less is more with Rae. Musically infused by Patsy Cline and Leonard Cohen, as much as by Bach and Hank Williams, she’s able to concoct a soul & dance revival, which delicately plays all over the full sonic spectrum.

TRUE WIDOW / \\G.T.// In Snow
Crawdaddy said of the True Widow's 2009 set at the Noise Pop Festival in San Francisco: “a mix of shoegaze and post rock with beautifully mellow vocals and menacing undertones, displaying a knack for delivering the rock goods while keeping the pace slow and steady with dynamics loud then soft—pretty downer music that manages to go interesting places even when it’s drenched in monotonous sludge. No gimmicks, just awesome music.”

Eef Barzelay (of Clem Snide) / ADAM ADAM
After Eef Barzelay (the band) drifted apart in 2005, Eef Barzelay (the individual) released two solo records and scored the music for 2007 Sundance hit “Rocket Science”. Resurrecting the band in 2009 with the darkly understated LP “Hungry Bird”, Barzelay took another quixotic stab at sustained profitability within the music business. But as the old models were clearly not working, Barzelay found himself with little support. Refusing to give up, he reached out to fans with an offer to write them a "personal song", (which would be rendered in a simple homerecorded solo acoustic fashion). To date he has written over 150 songs ranging from goofy children’s songs to dark meditations on death and love. “Songs For Mary” is the result of this collaboration with Eef and his fans, (sharing their deepest fears and joys) and his own personal struggles as a too-old-to-die-young artist trying to support himself and his family.

THE THERMALS / TWO SIDE
The Thermals (Hutch Harris, Kathy Foster and Westin Glass) are a post-pop-punk trio from pre-Portlandia-Portland, Oregon. Formed in 2002, they have since released five records and toured fifteen countries. The Thermals’ sixth LP and debut for Saddle Creek, Desperate Ground will be released April 16. The album was produced by John Agnello (Dinosaur Jr, Sonic Youth) in Hoboken, NJ. Agnello and The Thermals completed the record and evacuated the studio just hours before Hurricane Sandy ravaged New Jersey, a fate quite fitting when you consider the product. Desperate Ground is a true scrappy and scratchy return-to-form for The Thermals, with all the raw power and unhinged adolescent energy that made their early LP’s so insanely enjoyable. Lyrically, Desperate Ground is a brash and irresponsible ode to human violence, a black celebration of the inevitability of war and death.

THE BUZZ KILLINGTONS / THE FREQUENTLY
Little Steven van Zandt defines Garage Rock as, "White kids trying to play black Rhythm and Blues and failing......gloriously."
Now exchange "kids" with "near or at middle-aged men who should know better" and you have the Buzz Killingtons. Five men from Birmingham, Alabama who just can't give up the teenaged adrenaline rush of pounding through three chords garage rock songs with modulating degrees of technical skill but unvarnished enthusiasm and, well, high volume. Formerly known as The Flaming Republican War Lovers (Shoot Me I'm Dead), The Buzz Killingtons will take you back to the halcyon days of 60's garage bands. Only they have career jobs. And yes, they're keeping them. Doors at 8 PM / Show at 9 PM / Ages 18+ / Tickets $7 |

The Technicolors
The Technicolors are a musically sophisticated young rock band hailing from Phoenix, Arizona, who blend grand gestures of rock-n-roll with elements of classic acoustic rock. Their ambitious new album Listener deluxe is available now on Bay Area Independent label, Tallest Man Records. Citing influences like Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Bruce Springsteen, Led Zeppelin, Thin Lizzy, and the Travelling Wilburys, The Technicolors focused on creating a dynamic album of expansive songs that can be musically complex and artistic and still reach a vast amount of people. Listener weaves ambient electric guitar beds with searing solos punctuated with Smiley's earnest vocals reminiscent of Oasis and Wolfmother. With driving electric guitar riffs and a flair for the dramatic, the band has gained a reputation for being loud...in a good way.

Happy to take influence from grey skies & early sci-fi novels, Portland's Wooden Indian Burial Ground brings a fuzzy, sweaty, reverb drenched beast to the dinner table. Come dancing.
Jon Parales of the New York Times recently described WIBG as "particularly molten...riding riffs towards euphoric dementia." Bob Boilen of NPR's All Songs Considered chose WIBG as one of his top discoveries of CMJ 2012, stating "WIBG are the rare breed of psychedelic garage music that rises above the mediocrity of most bands making this sort of music these days and gets me remembering why I’ve loved this kind of music for so long.” Doors at 8 PM / Show at 9 PM / Ages 18+ / Tickets $10 + fees |

Mountain Goats / Baptist Generals
We are pleased to report that a year-plus worth of talking about touring the Mountain Goats in alternate configurations to all-ages rooms is yielding its first fruits this June, in the form of the TUTTLINGEN WARRIORS TOUR 2013, whose name is an inside joke, I'll tell you about it between songs at some point during the tour.
We're hitting several places we haven't been before and some we haven't managed to get back to in years (what's up Hoboken), and yes, in case you missed it in the avalanche of dependent clauses above: all dates are all-ages. All of them. Hell yes, I say, it's about time, sorry it took so long. Doors at 8 PM / Show at 9 PM / All Ages / Tickets $18 + fees |

Cayucas
No one knows summer like Santa Monica’s Zach Yudin, a man of leisure who recognizes “the epic” in something as simple as a twilight bicycle ride or a short drive up the coast. As Cayucas, Yudin has set about creating an impressionistic portrait of summer’s long, bittersweet dazzle.
An avid bird-watcher, Yudin majored in both Music Theory/Production and Japanese. He spent a post-grad year living and teaching in Tokyo, then taking the past couple of years to hone the sound of Cayucas. He posted a couple of songs online, picking up a lot of love and attention, but it was only when he entered the studio with producer/multi-instrumentalist Richard Swift last year that Cayucas was truly defined — sun-inspired jams that touch upon The Animals, Harry Belafonte and the surfer-folk mysticism of the Northwest. Kurt Vile and The Violators / Swirlies
Kurt Vile (real name) has slowly, quietly become one of the great American guitarists and songwriters of our time. Kurt was born in 1980, one of ten children, and raised in the city of brotherly love, Philadelphia. As a teenager, his bluegrass-loving father gifted him with a banjo, when what Kurt craved was a guitar – so he played it as if it were.
Bewitched by lo-fi figureheads like Beck, Pavement, and Smog, along with a love for classics like Petty, Creedence, and Neil Young, he recorded his first songs and self-distributed them on CD-R between 2003 and 2007. These were compiled on 2008’s Constant Hitmaker and the 2009 mini-album God Is Saying This To You… The dreamy and psychedelic tangles of damaged but still-lyrical songcraft announced a major new artist wandering in from the hinterlands.
