Delivered as if on a platter made of rust and steel, Scotchie’s music borrows from the grit of the Rolling Stones. He and The River Rats bind it with elements of old school soul and Lightnin’ Hopkins blues into a rhythm that rocks with purity."
– Tom Netherland - Bristol, TN Herald

Raging tempos, rebel attitude, radical intensity, electric and acoustic magic. These things all accurately describe Andrew Scotchie and The River Rats' approach to rock. The members of this high energy, rock, blues, and funk band bring an edge to music that represents the undercurrent power in the fast-emerging Asheville music scene. Carving out a niche that is all their own, they include unique subject matter in their lyrics, and are fully capable of letting their musicianship do the talking with their instruments. They have shared the stage with extraordinary musicians like Drivin N Cryin, Dumpstaphunk, Bright Light Social Hour, Blind Boys of Alabama, Big Sam's Funky Nation, and are growing successfully with some of the most significant venues and festivals in the country. Having already performed at Oskar Blues Burning Can Festival and Brevard Blues Festival in 2016, the band made their 2nd appearance at Bristol Rhythm & Roots Festival in September. In addition, Andrew served as Asheville's ambassador at the prestigious Crown Guitar Festival in Big Fork Montana just a couple weeks prior. The group was recently named Asheville's best rock band by Mountain Express. more >>>
