Wieuca | 8:30 PM
At its core, Wieuca is a fusion act. Having dabbled in aesthetics ranging from garage punk to triphop to folk, the group has always managed to bridge stylistic variations with a continuity in confessional lyrics, homespun recordings, and psychedelic sensory-overload. With a colorful visual identity to match, Wieuca’s focus has remained pointing out the beauty in the hideous and vice versa since its 2012 inception in Athens, GA. “Human Shield” highlights this seamless, if unexpected, fusion of sounds by enlisting Brooklyn rapper JAVAE to bring the vibe into a new hemisphere. There’s no reason why indie bands and rappers shouldn’t combine forces, but at least for now, this cut stands out as one of the very few examples.

"An adventurous version of indie rock, […] taking you on a journey.”
--Chris DeVille, Stereogum

“Lyrically rich, poignant indie rock with a psychedelic edge, […] a vibrant, inquisitive take on rock and roll that challenges genre.”
--Russell Rockwell, Immersive Atlanta

“Since forming way back in 2012, local foursome Wieuca has evolved from a messy, Pavement-aping slack-rock outfit to one of the coolest and most cohesive bands in town. Blending catchy vocal melodies with half-drunk guitar interplay and razor-sharp rhythms à la Parquet Courts, the group also flirts with anthemic Southern rock and jammy psychedelia. There’s also a healthy dose of irony to keep things fun.”

Indoor Creature | 7:30 PM
To journey to the present, a stranger must begin at the now closed Banzai Japanese Sushi and Grill. This oddity of North Lamar served as the first point of contact between Travis and Caleb. After discussing the finer points of compression they decided they should chill. They quickly discovered musical chemistry and a fluid relationship within production. Flash forward into time. Wow, what an incredible journey you have all taken. Where are we now? At a party on top of a roof in south Austin. Hey, whose this cool fellow with a bandana sitting on a ledge? Just as you are filled with intense curiosity, so was Caleb. Some how the stars aligned and Marcus Bell, a man filled with passion for original music blessed Indoor Creature with his presence. Our journey is almost complete. To finish the band, the trio ventured out into the unknown to search fora legend only heard of in passing. A man with a true smile and fingers that exude beauty. The six string slayer himself, Terrence Kiser. Legend had it that if you heard hollow body guitar tones in the distance, Monsieur Kiser was giving you a clue to his location. The trio, determined to complete their sound ventured out into the wild world of airport boulevard. After hours of searching, they finally turned their car stereos down, to hear the most wicked guitar solo you can imagine. Marcus, in a moment of disbelief exclaimed “Damn some one just snapped!”. The trio, following nothing but their intuition, arrived at a heavily guarded fortress but then realized this was the wrong location. Caleb remembered he had Terrence’s phone number, then texted him if he wanted to be in the band. Terrence said “Yeah”. more >>>
