Artist2Artist is pleased to present another unique event which will be of keen interest to Athens Townies, REM fans, devotees of the early Athens music scene, and avid readers alike! Join us for Robert Dean Lurie's newest book release party for "Begin the Begin - R.E.M.'s early years". Be prepared to dress in your happiest, shiniest finery as you take to the dance floor to enjoy the musical genius of R.E.M. performed by the Dead Letter Office Band. The evening will begin with a book signing (stay tuned for where to purchase the book) with critically acclaimed author Robert Dean Lurie. Although not being released until May 14, his book has received stunning advance reviews!

Dead Letter Office has dedicated themselves to faithfully reproducing the music and energy of a live R.E.M. show. Since 2014, Dead Letter Office has been thrilling audiences throughout the U.S. & Canada, providing a show that's been sorely missed since R.E.M called it quits.

Dead Letter Office not only performs R.E.M.'s major hits, but also dives deep into their catalog to please the die-hard fans!

Robert Dean Lurie is a writer and musician based in Tempe, Arizona. He received his MFA in Creative Writing from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and is the author of "No Certainty Attached: Steve Kilbey and The Church" and "We Can Be Heroes: The Radical Individualism of David Bowie." more >>>
Artist2Artist and Avid Bookshop are stoked to present another unique fundraising event which will be of keen interest to Athens Townies, REM fans, devotees of the early Athens music scene, and Avid (as co-sponsor) readers alike!

The Cause
All proceeds will be targeted to support Artist2Artist's program to address veterans and suicide prevention by providing emotional support animals to VETERANS SUFFERING PTSD. Animals will be selected from local rescue groups and professionally assessed for compatibility

The Event
Join us for Robert Dean Lurie's book release party for "Begin the Begin - R.E.M.'s early years". Our launch kicks off with a book signing and opportunity to meet the author. We then take to the dance floor to enjoy R.E.M. tribute artists Dead Letter Office. YOU ARE ALSO INVITED TO DRESS AS YOUR INTERPRETATION OF “HAPPY SHINY PEOPLE”! PRIZES will be awarded to 3 imaginative winners.
