The girl with the big voice from the Black Country has toured extensively around the world, released critically acclaimed albums and gained a global fan base as well as having the honour of playing alongside some of her musical idols.

Joanne’s debut album White Sugar first opened the door and Joanne’s career has since gone stratospheric, with her breaking the notoriously hard-to-crack US market. Whether seen on HBO’s Treme or at their legendary Tuesday night gig at The Maple Leaf, Grammy-winning Rebirth Brass Band is a true New Orleans institution. Formed in 1983 by the Frazier brothers, the band has evolved from playing the streets of the French Quarter to playing festivals and stages all over the world. While committed to upholding the tradition of brass bands, they have also extended themselves into the realms of funk and hip-hop to create their signature sound. “Rebirth can be precise whenever it wants to,” says The New York Times, “but it’s more like a party than a machine. It’s a working model of the New Orleans musical ethos: as long as everybody knows what they’re doing, anyone can cut loose.” In the wake of the sometimes-stringent competition among New Orleans brass bands, Rebirth is the undisputed leader of the pack, and they show no signs of slowing down.

Energetically honoring the sound of traditional bluegrass and mountain music, with threads of singer-songwriter, rock, and jam band music woven throughout, The Wooks are as at home on a festival stage as they are in a barn in the heart of Kentucky's horse country. The Wooks: CJ Cain (Lead Guitar), Arthur Hancock (Guitar), Harry Clark (Mandolin), Roddy Puckett (Bass), were born over some 20 years time somewhere between an Irish pub, a barbecue joint, and a festival jam circle. Inspired by legends and trailblazers like Crowe, Whitley, Simpson, Bush, Stapleton, and Rice who cut their teeth on stages throughout the Bluegrass Region, The Wooks translate the sights and sounds of the people, hills, bars, roads, and creeks around them into songs and shows that captivate. With both respect for their heritage and innovative originality, The Wooks are the natural evolution of a sound that has always been there.

You might recognize her song, Our Town, from the closing credits of the final episode of Northern Exposure and her song, Let the Mystery Be, which was featured in the opening scenes of the film Little Buddha and then became the theme for the opening credits of the HBO series, The Leftovers. Her second album, My Life, was nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Contemporary Folk Album category.

The press on her current release says it all - “It’s heady, heart-stopping stuff.” - Boston Globe - “As pure and piercing as they come.” - No Depression "Iris DeMent makes music that celebrates humanity's efforts toward salvation, while acknowledging that most of our time on Earth is spent reconciling with the fact that we don't feel so redeemed." – NPR Music
